Scout Sunday

Boy Scout Troop and Cub Scout Pack 307 have been chartered at 1st Pres since 1955 and 1956, respectively and have had a strong, continued presence ever since. Along with several community service projects through the years at the church, there have also been five Eagle projects during the pandemic, three of which have been concluded here at FPCGH. Ian Gruber and Dylan Perera did projects on irrigation and trees in the mini-park and Marshal Ponder’s project re-stained the benches on the patio. Two other Eagle Scouts did projects at CSUN (a storage unit for the disabled by Vincente Ramos) and at a historical park in Thousand Oaks (fence and corral painting by Andrew Martinez). Both the Troop and the Pack participate in the annual Deacon Adopt-a-Family program, and this year the Scouting-For-Food drive in November took over 800 pounds of food collected by the Troop to the CSUN food pantry! Both the Troop and the Pack wish to thank the congregation for their continued support for over 65 years and are looking forward to many more.

Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Scouts BSA program of the Boy Scouts of America. Since its inception in 1911, only four percent of Scouts have earned this rank after a lengthy review process. The Eagle Scout rank has been earned by over 2.5 million youth.
